Day 1, Glacier Hike and South Coast
On this day we will see the best of the best in Iceland.
We start our adventure day along the south coast of Iceland. The first stop will be at a waterfall called Seljalandsfoss, here we can walk behind the waterfall. After this amazing stop we will head towards the glacier Sólheimajökull for our private glacier hike with your glacier guide. There we will put on our glacier equipment to explore dramatic landscape, a world of blue ice and if we are lucky we might see some of Iceland’s myths or the trolls, wobbling around there.
Other stops will be at Skógarfoss waterfall, beautiful Reynisfjara beach or the black-sand beach around Dyrhólaey promontory.
Day 2, Vestmannaeyjar
The Westman Islands are one of the best-kept secrets in Iceland and you haven't fully seen Iceland until you visit them.
The islands are one of the wonders of nature, consisting of mountains, sea cliffs, volcanoes, seabirds and locals.
We will be arriving to the island in the morning. We start by watching one of the islands´ most popular sport called “spranga”. There we will see one of the locals rope-swing back and forth on the high cliffs of the Westman Islands. Lunch is close by so we will walk to our restaurant and have some food. After lunch we will do a hike on one of the mountaintops with a spectacular view over the whole islands. This activity is perfect for nature and bird lovers. Iceland is home to one of the world's largest colonies of puffins, the Westman Islands are one of their main breeding grounds. We hope to get a glimpse of this colourful little bird.
Day 3, Landmannalaugar
We will start the day by driving towards Landmannalaugar area that is known for its colourful rhyolite mountain ridges and warm river. Our highlights today will be Þjófafoss waterfall. It is one of several waterfalls in the south of Iceland situated in the lava fields north of Hekla Volcano. Ljótipollur or 'Ugly Puddle', this crater is nothing else than beautiful, with its red high edges on its sides and deep trout-filled lake at its bottom. In the afternoon we will go for a hike in Landmannalaugar area, there we will put our hiking boots on and do a short hike that is suitable for everyone in this phenomenal hiking paradise. After our exploring we pick up our towels and swimsuits and head to the hot spring and dip into a warm river. From here our road leads to a breathtaking place called Gjáin. This beautiful fairyland opens up with waterfalls, columnar basalt and such lush vegetation.
Day 4, Vatnajökull National Park and Glacier Lagoon
Our first stop will be at Fjaðrárgljúfur (Feather River Canyon) to do a short hike to stretch our legs and explore this magnificent canyon. Heading east to the largest national park of Iceland and in Western Europe, Vatnajökull national park is situated in south east of Iceland. Here we will put our hiking boots on and have a hike to explore dramatic landscape around the glacier. Our next stop will be the famous Glacier lagoon or so called Jökulsárlón and is one of Iceland crown jewels. The beach next to it call Diamond beach because of it ́s sparkling icebergs sitting on it. After our enjoyable day we will head back to our accommodation for the night where we will have a local farmer BBQ in a traditional Icelandic way.
Day 5, Mountain Biking
Before we go out on our mountain bikes we fuel up and eat good breakfast to get our energy up. We explore our surroundings on our mountain bikes at our own pace. After a few viewing stops along the way, we will eventually arrive at the entrance to the biggest volcanic cave system in Europe, only recently discovered, created during the fissure line eruption of Laki volcano and craters in 1783-84. There we will gear-up with helmets, headlights and some warm clothing before we enter the caves and take an exhilarating subterranean adventure of exploration. After a refreshing cave mission and having eaten a tasty picnic lunch, we will then prepare ourselves for the bike ride. This will take us through the enormous lava flow of Laki, covered with thick and spongy moss, bright green coloured in sunshine, especially after a rainy day.
