Day 1, Þórsmörk
This is the place where magic happens.
After breakfast we will jump into our 4x4 vehicle to explore these old glacier valleys that have been carved out by glaciers for years and years.
As we splash through unbridged streams and rivers you can enjoy the magical scenery and see the effects from the eruption in 2010, from the mighty Eyjafjallajökull.
In Þórsmörk there are numerous hikes to explore and we will choose one of them that will fit the group, either to a top of one of many viewpoints or into glacier carved gullies that will be on our way. There is a reason why Þórsmörk is called hiking paradise.
After our hike we will have a BBQ in this charming area.
Day 2, Fjallabak Nature Reserve
Fjallabak nature reserve region takes its name from the numerous wild and rugged mountains with deeply incised valleys, which are found there. Eldgjá will be our first stop for the day. It is a 40 km long eruptive fissure. Eldgjá is a unique natural phenomenon and is listed as natural remnants. A hike to Ófærufoss waterfall witch is situated in Eldgjá fissure is a must. Landmannalaugar is every hiker’s dream, offering endless inspiring sights and incredible panoramic views in every direction. Landmannalaugar is combines stunning untouched natural beauty, geothermal wonders, colorful mountains and incredible hot springs and this will be our next stop.
Day 3, Horseback riding
Today we will find our way to one of the local farms in the area and get to know this friendly horse of ours. The bright summers in Iceland are the best time to experience horseback riding. The Icelandic horse is a unique breed of smallish horses that came to Iceland with the first settlers from Norway 1100 years ago. Archeological digs in Europe have revealed that it is descendent from an ancient breed of horses that is now extinct outside of Iceland, where it has been preserved in isolation. After getting to know the horses we go for a ride on them and enjoy the beautiful landscape at the same time. We will then find our way to one of the local geothermal public pools to soak in.
Day 4, Glacier Hike and South Coast
On this day we will see the best of the best in Iceland.
We start our adventure day along the south coast of Iceland. The first stop will be at a waterfall called Seljalandsfoss, here we can walk behind the waterfall. After this amazing stop we will head towards the glacier Sólheimajökull for our private glacier hike with your glacier guide. There we will put on our glacier equipment to explore dramatic landscape, a world of blue ice and if we are lucky we might see some of Iceland’s myths or the trolls, wobbling around there.
Other stops will be at Skógarfoss waterfall, beautiful Reynisfjara beach or the black-sand beach around Dyrhólaey promontory.
